Helping dev teams with data replication by providing a visual data management experience.
Boost
Overview
Boost is a mobile app which reminds students of their upcoming assignments and tests by connecting with their school’s preferred LMS like Canvas.

Boost was founded at the Indiana University's incubator for it's students, with it's identity strongly connected to IU's brand. In order to achieve Q3 2021 goal of having presense in 10 schools,  they wanted to redesign an app with it's own brand identity that speaks primarily to 10,000+ students who will potentially used the app.
My Role
I worked with the brand designer to redesign the app to align it with the new brand identity.
I improved the current designs using my experience as a recent graduate.
I also collaborated with the software engineer to prioritise feature set for the MVP to be launched in 2 months.

Conversation scheduling with the most complex configuration possible
Students use the app, university buys the service
Boost connects with LMS tools like Canvas to provide students with notifications on their upcoming assignments.

The university pays to use Boost on their campus as it has proven to improve grades by 4% and students are 6% more likely to turn in assignments. In an year, Boost will also provide vital performance statistics to the university to improve their courses.

Brand that belongs in a student's life
I leaned heavy into the brand identity build by our brand designer to bring a sense of whimsy and excitement to the app. I brought aspects of school life like blue ruled paper, colorful highlighters for subject codes to the application.
Navigate planner with dates in a week
Students can see a overview of their week in the planner with the horizontal dates at the top. This feature can be updated with a full month view in coming releases.
Simple activity creation  flow
Students are able to create activities and get reminded the way they want to.

I wanted to explore this more with visual cues that show the activities along with other events that day.
Consistently branded design system
Boost now has a complete design system that they can build off of. It uses the brand elements to connect it with Boost's brand presence.
Impact
By Feb 2022, Boost is now being used in 21 schools
With 40,000+ active students using the app.

During 2021, schools have recorded 10% increase in grades and 15% increase in assignments turning in on time.

Along with business success, I think creating research & validation plans for next releases will help the experience improve. As an exercise, I built a research plan after the project to improve my skills.
Due to restrictions I cant share design artefacts on the website. But, I would like to show them to you in person.
